Get back out there!
Ashley Bashlor is a working mom. With school starting, she’s about to get busier, but this year is not going to be like last year. She’s lost 27 pounds thanks to OurSkinny, and she is back out there! “I wasn’t very happy with the way I looked,” she says. “I got to a point where I didn’t like the way my clothes fit, and when I looked at myself in the mirror I just wasn’t very happy.” She had tried Weight Watchers in years past, which worked for her, but that was then. “I didn’t have the time to do meetings again, what with work and a six year old in school and baseball practices.” Ashley works with Gulfstream Aerospace, and she knew several co-workers who had tried OurSkinny. Cindy Burnsed, who used to live right across the street from Ashley’s mother, had incredible success on the program, and Ashley thought, “I could probably do that.” Less than a year later, she’s maintaining weight loss of 25 and 30 pounds, “somewhere in there,” and she is thrilled. “All of my bloodwork is great, my cholesterol is down, and I had to get new clothes, so that was fun. It’s always nice to drop a dress size or two.”
In September of last year, Ashley’s doctor started her on cholesterol medications, and so she knew she had to do something. It was easy enough to figure out what had happened: “I work long days at Gulfstream. Sometimes I am there at least ten or twelve hours sometimes, and I had a bad habit of skipping meals. No breakfast and then we are busy, ‘Well, I can’t go to lunch.’” With few onsite options and just forty minutes for lunch, she started making the same bad choices we all do: “Most days, lunch was probably fast food, or junk food, or whatever I could shove in my mouth.” All that changed when she discovered OurSkinny.
“Now guess what? I throw three shakes, my bar, and my snacks in my purse and I am good to go. When you don’t get a chance to take lunch, you don’t have to worry about it because you’ve got your shakes and your bar right there.”
“I liked how easy it was,” she says. “Plus, the drinks actually taste good! I was thinking it was going to be this chalky nasty stuff and the bars would be like ‘UGH!’ but I actually enjoyed it.”

For Ashley, as busy as she is, happiness begins and ends at home, but there are other rewards as well. She got to go shopping! “I feel much better. I’m not so self-conscious about going out into the world—the beach especially—wondering who’s there and OH MY GOD are they looking at me?” Of course, now they are looking at her.
“It’s made me more confident in myself which has made a big difference in my happiness even at home. You know, not being so out of breath dealing with my kids, ‘Y’all go on I will catch up in a minute.’ I’ve gotten to enjoy my life again, because you don’t want to just sit in the house because you don’t feel like doing anything.”
“I am back out there, and once I reach that goal weight, I think I will be able to maintain that. You can stay on this diet forever and not even really call it a diet. When you’re busy and you don’t have time for lunch, if you have shakes in your drawer you can have that instead of shoving chips or something that’s not good for you in your mouth.” “You put on clothes in the morning you’re like okay let’s go!”
